HuntingLong-rangeRange / target

6.8 Western, developed by Winchester and Browning, uses long, heavy .277-caliber bullets for strong downrange performance on medium and large game and for long-range shooting, with recoil moderate for its class. It should not be confused with the unrelated and much smaller 6.8 SPC. As a newer cartridge, ammunition is available but in a limited selection and generally at higher cost. It suits hunters and long-range shooters wanting modern heavy-for-caliber .277 ballistics who can accept a narrower ammunition supply.
